Son of Edward Francis O'Neill, Sr. and Anne Bane O'Neill.

Edward, who resided at 607 Boxwood Road, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Chief Pharmacist's Mate with the U.S.S. Palmer (DD-161), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was declared "Missing In Action" when the U.S.S. Palmer was sunk near Luzon, Philippine Islands during World War II.

He had served in the Navy for five years and five months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
