Albert served as a First Lieutenant on a B-25 ( # unknown ), 823th Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Pima County, Arizona prior to the war.

This B-25 took off, with a crew of 6 & 6 other B-25's, on a strike mission over Balikpapen, Indonesia. During the bombing run there was a snafu in the timing; and as the Mitchell’s roared in toward the harbor, skimming the tree tops, this b-25 was caught in a bomb blast from another bomber and plunged into the water. 4 of the crew members were lost and 2 of them, the radio-gunner and the tail-gunner, were thrown clear as the plane broke apart on impact.

Albert was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
