On November 3rd E & G Companies attack across the river and Weapons Company Machine gunners attack as infantry men. The companies attack into the bush using bayonets in close in fighting. Over 230 enemy soldiers are killed.

Ralph was declared " Missing In Action " in Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands during the war.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.
