Joseph Gazer was a member of 17th Ordnance. He fought on Bataan and became a Prisoner of War on April 9, 1942. He took part in the Bataan Death March and was held as a POW at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan. In the fall of 1942, he was put on a Japanese transport, the Tottori Maru. During the trip he became ill and died. His remains were cremated and ashed sent to Mukden, Manchuria with the surviving POWs.
