Lt. U.S. Army Air Corps, World War II-Lt. Ham was killed in the line of duty on 7-13-1944 while flying his P-47 Aircraft in the New Guinea area with the 40th Fighter Squadron of the 35th Fighter Group.

He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Leland Ham of 302 Kellogg in Peoria, Illinois, and is a 1937 graduate of Manual Training H.S., and was working as an apprentice at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in East Peoria, Illinois.

Lt. Ham was in the Air Corps on April 4, 1941, and did his training at Brooks Field, San Antonio, Texas where he received his Commission and Wings.

Besides his parents, he leaves two other brothers, Pfc. Murray E. Ham of the Marine Corps, and SSgt. Leland Ham in Jackson, Mississippi, and one sister, Miss Alice Lorraine Ham, at home.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Air Medal, Pilot Wings, American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, Pacific Campaign Medal with Two Battle Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal.
