Son of Paul Hadzima who resided in Chicago, Illinois.

Steve served as a Sergeant, 35th Fighter Squadron, 8th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He was a passenger on C-47A #43-16114 that was assigned to the 8th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Force.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 27, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of automobiles and also as Single, without dependents.

C-47A #43-16114 took off, with a crew of 5 & 4 passengers, from Finschafen Airfield, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea on a administrative mission to Noemfoor, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province Indonesia.

After takeoff this C-47 was not seen nor heard from again. All on board were lost.

Steve was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

Steve was previously awarded the "Soldier's Medal".
