Obituary of Iona Edmonston
Holden Progress, Holden,Mo.
Feb. 23,1907

Iona, only daughter of Dr. C.F. Edmonston died Saturday of typhoid and brain fever at Columbia,Mo. The body was brought here and funeral services held Sunday at the Rock Spring Church, where the interment was made.
Deceased was aged 9 years, 6 months and 26 days. The family home had been for years in the Rock Spring neighborhood and the move to Columbia was made for the purpose of giving Iona the educational advantages there.

Iona's mother was Elisa J. Appy 1876-1944. It is not known when or why she split with Charles, but from looking at the headstone, it was probably before Iona's death in 1904. She went on to marry Wm. S. Grinsfelder and finally to Wm. Millinaar. She died in Los Angeles, CA in 1942.
Iona's headstone indicates that her father, Dr. Charles Francis Edmonston is buried next to her, but this is not the case. Dr. Edmonston went on to marry Agnes Madge Gardner and lived until 20 March 1934. He died in Columbia, Mo. after complications from a fall and is buried in the Columbia Cemetery next to Madge. Madge died in 1967, age about 83.
