PFC Haig Sarafian enlisted in the US Marine Corps on 12 January 1943. He served in the Bougainville Campaign with the 3rd Defense Battalion and then served on Peleliu with C Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was lost in the assault on Hill 100 on 19 September 1944 and remains missing in action. He was awarded a Silver Star for gallantry.
