George served as a Corporal & Engineer / Gunner on B-26 "The Virginian" #40-1508, Headquarter's Squadron, 22nd Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Fulton County, Pennsylvania prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 5, 1940, prior to the war, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Carpenter and also as Single, without dependents.

B-26 #40-1508 was shot down by Japanese Zeros near their target and crashed in the bay off of Salamaua, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.

George was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Service # 13001411

George also has a "Cenotaph" in the Buck Valley Christian Church Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania with his parents.
