Local Private, 18, Fatally Injured In Leyte Invasion
Pvt Raymond McClintock Reported Killed In Action Jan. 20

Pvt Raymond McClintock, 19, year old infantryman, son of Mrs. Alice McClintock, 1250 West Third Street, was injured fatally in the invasion of Leyte Island Jan. 20, 1945 the War Department informed his family here yesterday.
The youth went overseas from an embarkation camp in California in November, 1944, and for several months was stationed with U.S. Army forces in New Guinea. Several weeks ago he was sent into the invasion and during the engagement was killed in action.
Private Raymond attended the local high school and prior to his enlistment Aug. 23, 1943, was employed at the Williamsport Textile Company. He underwent basic training at Camp Adair, Ore., and from that place was granted only one furlough to his home here last October.
The soldier is survived also by one brother, Fred, and the following sisters, Elizabeth, Margaret, Lois, Myrtle, Vera, Beverly and Johann, all of this city.
