Son of Mrs. O. S. Yeager who resided in Trout, Louisiana.

Richard served as a Second Lieutenant & Pilot on B-25C #41-12982, 90th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group, Light, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in La Salle Parish, Louisiana prior to the war.

B-25C #41-12982 took off from Port Moresby, National Capital District, Papua New Guinea on a bombing mission attacking anti-aircraft installations at Buna, Oro Province, Papua New Guinea.

Over the target, this B-25 sustained a direct hit on the wing, causing it to catch fire and crash near the shoreline. 1st Lt. Lindsay & S/Sgt Hill were able to parachute out however they were never seen again.

Richard was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
