Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until January 16, 1946, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Ralph served as a Corporal, 320th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Henry County, Indiana prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 4, 1942 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Married.

Ralph was a passenger on C-46D #44-77452.

C-46D #44-77452 took off from Mokmer Airfield, Papua New Guinea on an operational flight to Morotai Airfield, Indonesia. They never arrived at Morotai and were considered a possible battle casualty.

Ralph was declared "Missing In Action" while on this flight during the war.
