Husband of Sylvia Jacobs who resided in Waltham, Massachusetts.

Bernard served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-25 #43-36201, 405th Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Norfolk County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

B-25 #43-36201 took off, with a crew of 6 and other B-25's, from Mangaldan Airstrip, Philippines on a strike mission against 3 Japanese destroyers south of Formosa. While over their target they either hit the mast of one of the destroyers and crashed into the sea or possibly they were hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed into the sea near a Japanese Destroyer. The entire crew was lost.

Bernard was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
