Jonathan Erastus Quicksall was born in 1770 in England.

Jonathan immigrated to the United States from England via France to escape religious persecution in 1790 and landed in Richmond, Virginia.

At the age of 32, he married the widow Sarah Elizabeth Clark Richards on 21 Dec 1802 in Richmond, Virginia. They had eleven children together.

Jonathan passed away on 28 Oct 1834 in Tazewell County, Virginia. He was 64 years old.
