Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until March 31, 1944, 1 year and 1 day after he went missing as was the custom.

Son of Arthur & Marion Meehan Cassidy.

Husband of Marie Magdelaine Marchesseault Cassidy.

Arthur served as a Lieutenant, Junior Grade & Pilot of Wildcat #11740, USS Ranger (CV-4), U.S. Navy during World War II.

The USS Ranger (CV-4) was steaming off the coast of Massachusetts heading towards the Boston Navy Yard for some refitting. Due to a snowstorm approaching, as a precaution, the ship’s aircraft were to be sent inland.

During the flight inland, Arthur and his wildcat went missing and to this day (2016) it is unknown what happened to him.
