USS NEOSHO (AO-23)
On May 7th 1942, oiler USS Neosho (AO-23) and destroyer Sims (DD-409) are attacked by Japanese planes. Neosho is damaged by bombs and a crashing dive bomber. Destroyer Sims is sunk. Neosho damaged and adrift since 7th May and deemed beyond salvage, is scuttled on 11th May by torpedoes and gunfire of US destroyer Henley (DD-391). Henley rescues survivors from Neosho and Sims.
