RUSSELL ENGHOLM, SELMA YOUTH, IS KILLED IN ACTION

SELMA (Fresno Co.), Nov. 25-- Word was received here today that Russell Kenneth Engholm, 22 a sailor, son of Samuel J. and Mrs. Margie V. Engholm, was killed in the South Pacific on November 15th.

Young Engholm, a native of Caruthers who attended the Caruthers Elementary School and was graduated from the Selma High School in 1939, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in San Francisco on October 27, 1940, and received his primary training in San Diego. He was a second class petty officer at the time of his death.

The youth's father, a veteran of World War No. I, is a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Selma Post, and at present is deputy chief of staff of the VFW Department of California.

Surviving young Engholm, who was a member of the Pella Lutheran Church in Selma, are his parents, two brothers, Glenn S. Engholm, serving with the U.S. Navy in Alaska, and Samuel J. Engholm, Jr., and a sister, Miss Donna Mae Engholm, of Selma.

Memorial services are being arranged here.

MEMORIAL SERVICES FOR RUSSELL ENGHOLM ARE SET FOR SUNDAY

Memorial services for Russell Kenneth Engholm, 22, son of Samuel J. Engholm and Margie V. Engholm of Selma, will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Pella Lutheran Church of Selma.

Engholm enlisted in the United States Navy October 27, 1940, and lost his life in the south Pacific November 15th while on active duty. He was buried at sea the same day, memorial services being held on board ship November 18th. His father is a veteran of the first World War, and Russell was a member of Selma Post No. 3771, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which his father is a past commander.

The family requests no flowers be sent.
