Son of Mrs. Martha Edwards who resided in Phoenix, Arizona.

Robert served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-25D #41-30259, 499th Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Alameda County, California prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on September 21, 1942 in San Francisco, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Filling Station Attendant and also as Divorced, with dependents.

B-25D #41-30259 took off, with a crew of 4, from Nadzab Airfield (APO #713), Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea on a local transition mission. They were scheduled to return to Nadzab after this mission however were not seen or heard from again.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" on this flight during the war.
