First Lieutenant Donald Wilkie, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, 25, was killed while piloting his aircraft near the Solomon Islands. At the time, he was assigned to Marine Transport Squadron 153, Marine Aircraft Group 25, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Fleet Marine Force flying the R4D (Skytrain).

Donald attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he was a charter member of the New York Delta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp ) Fraternity & graduated with the Class of 1940.

He was originally interred on New Georgia Island.
