Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, Richard was not officially declared by the military as being dead until December 15, 1945. The actually date of his passing is currently unknown. ( see below )

Richard served as a Flight Officer & Pilot on B-25G #42-64850, 823th Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

Richard was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-25 was hit by Japanese anti-aircraft fire and crashed into Astrolabe Bay, New Guinea during the war.

There were reports that the crew was seen in a raft and they were possibly shot by the Japanese soldiers on the Island of Bili Bili.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
