Cyril Joseph Reinstatler, the son of Cyril and Ruth Reinstatler, was born on October 24, 1923, in Ohio. By 1930, he and his parents had moved to Cobleskill, New York, and by 1940, they had relocated to Schenectady. He earned a full scholarship to Cornell University after graduating from Cobleskill High School.
In March, 1942, Cyril enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a bombardier on a B-24 Liberator and had the rank of Second Lieutenant. On April 8, 1945, Cyril was killed in battle over China.
