Robert Warren Perkins, the son of Gerald and Evelyn (Binks) Perkins, was born on July 18, 1918, in Claremont, New Hampshire. By 1922, he was residing in Schenectady with his family. He attended the University of New Hampshire after receiving his diploma from Nott Terrace High School.

Robert enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of First Lieutenant and served with the 60th Cavalry Regiment. On February 18, 1943, Robert passed away in Osaka, Japan, where he was a prisoner of war.
