Lawrence served as a Second Lieutenant on B-24J #44-41358, 868th Bomber Squadron, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on February 26, 1943 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Lawrence was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-24 did not return after a mission during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Lawrence M. Lensing was single at time of enlistment but he married Helen G. Franz on March 19, 1945 in the Air Base Chapel at Langley Field, Virginia. Published in the Buffalo Evening News issue March 27, 1945.
