Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until February 15, 1946.

Son of Mrs. Elizabeth P. Johnson who resided in Miami Beach, Florida.

Robert served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-25D #41-30058, 499th Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in New York County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 9, 1941 in New York City, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Purchasing agent and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25D #41-30058 took off, with a crew of 6, from Mokmer Airfield, Papua Province, Indonesia on a barge sweep mission over the Sorong area, province of West Papua, eastern Indonesia.

They were last seen on this sweep but never returned to base. The entire crew of 6 were lost on this mission during the war.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
