Edward served as a First Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24J #42-73018, 431st Bomber Squadron, 11th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Schenectady County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 16, 1942 in Albany, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Carpenter and also as Single, without dependents.

Edward was declared "Missing In Action" over Truk in the Pacific region. His plane was last seen flaming 12 miles off the coast of Truk.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Purple Heart.

Edward was officially declared dead on March 26, 1946.
