Nelson Jones
April 15, 1810 - February 8, 1892

Nelson Jones was born in Virginia. He fathered two sons and one daughter with Mary Price. Although the marriage license for this union has yet to be found, Mary's name has been confirmed on the death certificate of their son, Granville Wesley Jones.

Nelson married Elizabeth Eaton on November 5, 1845, in Whitley, Kentucky, and four more children were born. Nelson died on February 8, 1892, in Missouri, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in Racine, Missouri.
_____

Nelson was the father of at least seven children.

His first two children (Sarah Jones and Franklin Jones) are listed with the family on the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Census. After 1860, the whereabouts of these two children and who they may have married are currently unknown.

Four children (Granville, Melissa, Henry, Mary) have been linked on Findagrave. Nelson Jones has been confirmed as their father through U.S. Census and the children death certificates. See Missouri death certificates #9914, #5411, #17547, and #1888.

Another child (Sarah) was born to Nelson and Elizabeth. She is listed in the 1852 Kentucky birth records. She appears to have died young because she is not listed on the 1860 U.S. Census. At first it seemed strange they would name her Sarah since the oldest daughter is also named Sarah. Note the older daughter was born to a different mother, other than Elizabeth. As well, Elizabeth's mother (Sarah "Sallie" Grubb Eaton) is reported to have died in 1850 so it is possible that Elizabeth was wishing to honor her deceased mother. Further details are being sought to confirm.
