William served as a Ensign & Pilot, U.S. Navy during World War II.

He mother resided at 440 Thurston Road, Rochester, Monroe County, New York and his father at 316 Washington Avenue, Batavia during the war.

William was declared "Missing In Action" near Wasile Bay, Halmahera during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
