Son of Mrs. Dina Anderson who resided in Brooklyn, New York.

Roy served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24J #42-110005, 408th Bomber Squadron, 22nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in New York prior to the war.

Roy was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-24, while on a strike mission on aviation fuel refineries at Balikpapan, Borneo, was accidentally hit by a air burst phosphorous bomb which disabled one of the B-24's engines. His B-24 was then attacked by several fighters and shot down about 20 miles from the target.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
