Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until March 15, 1946.

Son of Mrs. Teresa Altieri who resided in Buffalo, New York.

Raymond served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24J #44-40933, 370th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during WW II.

He resided in Buffalo, Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 1, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the building of aircraft and also as Single, with dependents.

B-24J #44-40933 left Kurnasoren Airfield on a bombing mission to Balikpapan on the island of Borneo. After completion of the bombing mission, #44-40933 was attacked by Japanese aircraft and shot down and were believed to have crashed at sea.

Raymond was declared "Missing In Action" in this attack during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
