Second Lieutenant Craft was a member of VMF-121, a Marine Corps fighter squadron based out of Henderson Field, Guadalcanal.
His aircraft failed to return from a mission on 17 October 1942, and he was reported missing in action. Nothing further was ever heard from Wiley Craft, and he was declared dead as of 19 February 1945.Craft was posthumously promoted to the rank of captain.
