Husband of Maurine Jons Bachman who resided in Lubbock, Texas.

Justus served as a First Lieutenant & Navigator on B-25G #42-64881, 823rd Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Throckmorton County, Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 16, 1942 in Dallas, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as an Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25G #42-64881 took off from Garbutt Field near Townsville, Queensland, Australia on a ferrying flight, with a crew of 5 and 6 passengers, bound for 17 Mile Drome (Durand) near Port Moresby, Central Province Papua New Guinea. The passengers were from the 823rd Bombardment Squadron and other U. S. Army units.

There was a strong weather front reported between New Guinea and Australia on that day. It is assumed, since they never arrived at their destination, that they crashed somewhere near the Coral sea during the war. Everyone on board was lost.

Justus was declared "Missing In Action" on this flight during the war.
