The son of William Beall Abadie and Georgia Flo (Blakemore) Abadie. Attended Austin High School, class of 1935, followed by the Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy (now known as the University of Texas at El Paso).

On August 2, 1942, Abadie was the bombardier of B-17E #41-2435 assigned to the 5th Air Force, 19th Bombardment Group, 28th Bombardment Squadron. The plane was part of a flight of B-17s searching for a Japanese convoy near Buna. The aircraft was attacked by ten Zeros and shot down, crashing into the Solomon Sea. Several men bailed out, but only one survived. The men were not officially declared dead by the Army until 1946.

Abadie was from Travis County, TX. He received the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Because his body was not recovered, he is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing.
