CAPT USAAF WWII
MIA-KIA
Air Transport Command (ATC)
1345th Army Air Force Base Unit (AAFBU)
Pilot/CoPilot

Capt. Boger's family honors his memory with a cenotaph in the Boger family plot in Oakwood Cemetery in his hometown of Concord, North Carolina. (See that memorial, John Daniel Boger, for other biographical details and family links.) The American Battle Monuments Commission honors him with the inscription of his name on the Tablets of the Missing here at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial.

He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1941, and trained as a Pilot on B-24 Liberators. He left for deployment in December 1944. On only his third trip trip over The Hump, his aircraft disappeared on a routine transport flight.
The aircraft, C-109 #44-49235 , belonged to the Air Transport Command, 1345th Army Air Force Base Unit at Tezgaon, India. It left Kurmitola India for a routine transport flight over The Hump to a destination of Chengkung, China 5 January 1945. The weather was reported clear at 500 ft that day to 20,000ft. A witness statement given by 1st Lt Louis D 'Lou' Foglia reported to have made radio contact with the aircraft at Chabua, India. The aircraft disappeared after this, with no known cause. A search conducted under the command of Capt Joseph H Chuse, Base Rescue Officer, was unsuccessful in locating the missing ship or its crew.

The crew members were:
Capt Floyd F Strohl, ASN O-424697, Pilot, from Champaign IL
Capt John D Boger, ASN O-415487, CoPilot, from Concord NC
