Son of Charles Clifford Conrad and Lila May Long, he was the 7th of 15 children. A WWII Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He wouldn't talk about the war, so the family knows little of his experiences. He was proud to serve as Commander of the local US Legion post, and was well known and loved in the community. He married Clara Mary Bishop on August 24, 1943 in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. They had 6 children: Charles Clifford III, Edward Joseph, Lila May, John Baden, Lawrence Granville, and Clyde Clifford. He married Marjorie Pittman Geisler on June 28, 1977.
