Son of Hanna Zuidema of Haren, Netherlands. Brother of Cpl Louis Zuidema

Simon Zuidema z"l enlisted on January 20, 1916 in Calgary, Alberta. His attestation paper shows that he previously had one year of military service in Holland. A butcher by trade, he was unmarried. Height 5 ft 7-3/4 in with fair complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair.

Commemorated on Page 355 of the First World War Book of Remembrance.
He is also commemorated on the Cenotaph in the Jewish Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta.
