Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home in this city for Reuban J. J. Brainard, who passed away Sunday, January 14, at the age of 76 years. The services were conducted by Rev. Curtis H. Webster, pastorof the United Brethren church.
Interment was inthe Minert cemetery in Post townshio, with the following acting as pallbearers; Dale, Lee, Keith, John and Forrest Brainard and Arthur Hammon.
Mr. Brainard was born at Postville April 5, 1868, the son of Isaac and Arvilla Brainard.
He was married to Minnie Louise Schroeder on December 10, 1896, and to this union nine children were born, eight of whom survive. Mre. Brainard and an infant son preceeds him in death.
Surviving him are the following children: Elmer of Castalia, James of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Mabel Klepper of Merrimac, Wis., Mrs. Hazel Knappe of Clinton, Iowa, Lester and Lloyd of Janesville, Wis., Carl on the home farm where the deceased had been cared fortenderly duing his last illiness, and Leo in the armed forces, stationed at Camp Wolters, Texas. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brainard had spent his entire lifetime in this community where he followed the occupation of farming.
