MAUDE JEWELL EVANS OF ARCADIA DIES
Maude Jewell Evans, 83, Arcadia, died at a hospital in Eldorado Springs Mo., at 4:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30. She had been in ill health for three years. She was born April 13, 1892, in Mulberry, and lived in Arcadia all her life. Mrs. Evans married Franklin Albert Jewell on Jan. 21, 1912. He died on Feb. 2, 1956. She married James Evans on Nov. 28, 1958. Mr. Evans died on Jan. 31, 1964. She was a member of the Arcadia Methodist Church, the Eastern Star Daisy Chapter No. 451 in Arcadia and the Women's Federation Study Club of Arcadia. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Betty Dehon of Nevada, Mo., and Mrs. Donna Cooley, of Azusa, Calif; four sons, William Howard Jewell, Brussels, 111., Eugene T. Jewell of Lockwood, Mo., Charles N. Jewell, Osceola, Mo., and J. Paul Jewell, Kansas City, Kan. ; one brother, Ted R. Tayor, Girard; two sisters, Dee Cook, Kansas City, Mo., and Mildred Smith, Cincinatti, Ohio; two stepchildren, Opal Crockett, Mulberry and Harry Evans, of California; nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Two sons preceded Mrs. Evans in death: Lewis Franklin Jewell, who died in 1942, and Freddie Allen Jewell, who died in 1934. She was also preceded in death by six brothers. Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Arcadia Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob McCombs officiating. Burial was in the Old Arcadia Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Siple-Bedene Funeral Home in Arma.
