Utahs Road Toll Passes Record
Two Youths Killed

About an hour later, at 4505 W. 12600 South in Riverton. A two-car collision claimed the lives of two Salt Lake County youths and moved the total to 340. Dead on arrival at Cottonwood Hospital soon after the 11:58 p.m. accident was Russell James Cordova, 21, 525 S. Main. Herriman. The second victim, 17-year-old Candee Angel Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spud Adams, 8585 S. 2200 West, West Jordan, died early Sunday at Cottonwood Hospital.

Attempted to Pass

Deputy Pete Niksich said both cars were westbound on 12600 South when Mr. Cordova apparently attempted to pass an auto driven by Miss Adams.

The two cars brushed sides and both vehicles were sent spinning out of control. Miss Adams' car left the right side of the road while Mr. Cordova's car continued down the road before hitting a utility pole.

Both drivers were alone in their cars, according to Deputy Niksich.
