Margaret Elizabeth Harkey was born Margaret Elizabeth Harrison on the 14th day of March in 1903 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harrison (Sara McIntyre Harrison) in Sioux County northwest of Crawford, NE. Margaret died May 03rd, 1968 at the Alliance, NE hospital at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 19 days.
Margaret married Edward Weight on 12-28-1926 in Chadron, NE. Married Lloyd King Richardson March 6, 1929, at St. Joseph, MO. Later married Mr. James Howard on 01-13-1940 at Alliance, NE. Margaret and Jeff Harkey were married on 06-10-1959 at Asotin, Washington.
Margaret taught school most of her adult life. Her pupils and public education were the great concern of her life. Most of her teaching was done in western Nebraska, southern South Dakota, and Idaho.
Margaret is survived by her son Robert Richardson of rural Crawford, NE, her daughter Mrs. Richard Briney (Helen) of Beaver Crossing, NE; her sister Mrs. Albert Meng of Rural Crawford, NE; ten grandchildren and ten nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert Harrison.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church located at Crawford, NE under the direction of the Houston Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald W. Gear officiating at the service.
