Son of Mrs. Helen Simpson who resided in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Maurice served as a Staff Sergeant and Left Waist Gunner on B-24D #42-72847, 513rd Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 19, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Semiskilled driller in the extraction of minerals and construction and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24D #42-72847 took off from San Pancrazio, Italy on a bombing mission over Regensburg, Germany. After the bombing mission was completed B-24J #42-100253, for an unknown reason, crashed into B-24D #42-72847 causing both aircraft to crash in Germany during the war.

Maurice was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
