DALE GORDON REED, 24, private in the U.S. Infantry, was killed by a bayonet in the Battle of Metz on November 19, 1944. Word was received only a few days after he had been reported missing. His widow, Mrs. Mary R. Reed, Twelve Mile (Indiana) and his mother, Mrs. Pearl Reed Mendenhall, Richvalley (Indiana) were notified. Pvt. Reed entered service in November 1943 and was sent overseas two months before his death. Born in Twelve Mill, Cass county, he had been a Wabash County resident for seven years. A son, Frank Dale Reed, also survives.
