Frederick served as a Second Lieutenant & Co-Pilot on B-17G #43-38009, 850th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Bannock County, Idaho prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 2, 1943 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

B-17G #43-38009 took off, with a crew of 9, from Eye, England on a bombing mission over Ludwigshafen, Germany. Near the target they were hit by anti-aircraft fire which blew their left wing off and crashed near the target. One parachute was seen leaving the B-17.

Frederick was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
