Joseph Francis Judge, son of Bernard Joseph and Elizabeth Hobden, was born on July 21, 1908, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He had five brothers named, Bernard Joseph (Jr.), Edward George, Robert Thomas, Francis Thomas and Raymond F. Judge, and two sisters named Mary Madeline and Elizabeth Judge.

On July 12, 1941 at Sainte Therese Church, Dracut, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Joseph Francis married Marie Mae Edna Grenier, daughter of Alfred Jean Grenier and Lea Noro (Noreau). She was born on May 30, 1911, Lowell and died on January 26, 1770, Lowell.

During World War II, in France, Joseph Francis lost his life in combat on November 6, 1944, at the age of 36 years, 3 months, and 16 days. He was buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, Lorraine, France. He was awarded posthumously the Purple Heart.
