Mark served as a Staff Sergeant & Waist Gunner on B-17G #42-97728, 352nd Bomber Squadron, 301st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Washington County, Utah prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on October 23, 1940, prior to the war, at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Machinist and also as Single, without dependents.

Mark was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, while on a one plane secret mission, developed engine trouble in two different engines and crashed near Salzburg, Austria during the war.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.

He also has a "Cenotaph" in the Hurricane City Cemetery, Hurricane, Utah.
