Glendon served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-24D #42-72847, 513rd Bomber Squadron, 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Wayne County, Indiana prior to the war.

B-24D #42-72847 took off from San Pancrazio, Italy on a bombing mission over Regensburg, Germany. After the bombing mission was completed B-24J #42-100253, for an unknown reason, crashed into B-24D #42-72847 causing both aircraft to crash in Germany during the war.

Glendon was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
