John, who resided at 1110 Woodlawn Avenue, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-24G (#42-78284), in the 720th Bomber Squadron, 450th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force based in Italy during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on March 12, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as an Airplane Mech. and also as being Single, without dependents.

John was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was hit by enemy flk and crashed near Fuerstenfeldbrueck, Germany during the war.

He had served with the Air Corps for two year and five months at the time of his death and was decorated with the Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
