John served as a Private First Class, 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Strafford County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 9, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of boots and shoes and also as Single, without dependents.

John was "Killed In Action" in France during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
