Lt Cilli appears on the Ploesti roster as a member of the 389th TDY the 98th bomb group, however the loraine cemetery has him as a member of the 720th Bomb Squadron of the 450 th Bomb Group and spelled Gilli.
The official 450 BG web site indicates that the group was based in Italy beginning active service December 1943.
It must be assumed that Lt. Cilli was either transferred or he volunteered to fly missions with this group after he met his mission requirements with the 389th.

The 450 official web site indicates that Lt Gilli was MIA on a mission to Steyr Austria. his B 24 piloted by Captain Donald A. Buck.
However Cilli's name is spelled with a G. and he is listed as 2nd LT.

2nd Lt (later 1st Lt) Cilli was a recipient of the Distinguished flying cross for his participation in the Ploesti raid "Operation Tidal Wave" August 1st 1943.
