Stewart, who resided in Claymont, Delaware, served as a Private First Class with the 331st Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on August 24, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as being Married.

He was "Killed In Action" in France during the war.

He had served in the Army for eleven months and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
