He resided in the District Of Columbia prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 21, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Pullman porter and also as Married.
Franklin was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 42-31477 was hit by enemy flak causing multiple engine failures and crashed near Nesle-Hodeng, four miles southeast of Neufchatel-en-Bray in France during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was reported as being shot in his parachute and killed.
